In Mathura, during the Bhadrapada month, Lord Krishna was born. He was the son of Devaki and Vasudeva. When Lord Krishna was born, his uncle Kansa was in control of Mathura. Since a prediction said that the couple’s eighth son would bring about Kansa’s demise. After hearing the prediction, Kansa imprisoned Devaki and Vasudeva and planned to kill their son. Subsequently he murdered their first six children. Devaki’s seventh child was moved from Devaki’s womb to Princess Rohini’s womb. When they had their eighth child, Lord Krishna, the entire kingdom fell asleep. Vasudeva saved the child and took him to Nand Baba and Yashodha’s residence in Vrindavan. After the exchange, Vasudeva carried a baby girl back to the prison and gave her to Kansa. She changed into the goddess Durga when the evil king tried to kill her, and she gave him a warning about his inevitable demise. Krishna later kills his uncle Kansa for all of his sinful deeds.
