If you live in a place where you cannot maintain cows personally, you can engage in cow protection by adopting one of our resident cows, bulls or calves. You can donate for one month, one year or lifetime feeding and care. For one year and lifetime adoption, you can perform worship of the adopted cow with assistance of a Goshala priest. In case of lifetime adoption, you can perform the worship every year on your preferred date. Gir Cows
The Gir cattle is a famous dairy cattle breed originating in India. It is one of the principal Zebu or Bos indicus breeds in India, and has been used locally in the improvement of other breeds. The breed is also known as some other names in different parts of their breeding tract. Such as Bhodali, Gujarati, Sorthi, Surti, Kathiawari and Desan.
Ongole Cows
The Ongole cattle are a beautiful breed of cattle from India. They are most widely distributed and are bred in the largest numbers in many other countries throughout the world. The breed is indigenous to the Andhra region in the Prakasam District in the state of Andhra Pradesh in India. Like most other Indian cattle breeds, the Ongole cattle are also named from the place name, Ongole. Some people also refer to this breedas Nellore cattle, because this area was once part of the Nellore area. Ongole cattle cattle, especially the bulls are very famous for their appearance.
Malanad Gidda Cows
The Malnad Gidda cattle are a dwarf breed of cattle from India. It is also called Malenadu Gidda, Gidda, Uradana and Varshagandhi. The word Malnad means hilly region and Gidda means dwarf or small.
The breed is native to the hilly, rainy and densely forested Malenadu region of the Western Ghats in the state of Karnataka in India. It plays a very important role in the rural economy of this region by providing milk, manure and draft power with negligible inputs.
Kankrej Cows
Kankrej cattle are a breed of Zebu cattle. They originated from the Kankrej Taluka of Banaskantha district in the state of Gujarat in India. And the breed gets it name from it’s home tract ‘Kankrej‘.
They are also known by some other names such as Wagad, Waged, Wadhir, Wadial, Wadhiar, Bannai, Vaghiyar, Vadhiyar, Nagar and Talabda.
Kankrej cattle breed comes from southeast of the Desert of Cutch in western India, particularly along the banks of the rivers Banas and Saraswati which flow from east to west and drain into the desert of Cutch.
Punganur Cows
The Punganur cattle which is also known as Punganur dwarf cattle originated from the Chitoor district of Andhra Pradesh in southern India. The breed is among the world’s smallest humped cattle breeds.
It is named after the town of it’s origin, Punganur, in Chittor district situated in the south-eastern tip of the Deccan Plateau.
The Punganur cattle breed is on the verge of extinction, with a few animals remaining.
The breed is not officially recognized as a breed since there are only a few animals remaining. Punganur cattle are mainly noted for their very high quality milk which is rich in medicinal properties. Today the breed is pretty rare.
