Significance of Mahalya Amavasya

Mahalaya Amavasya holds deep spiritual significance, as it is the final day of the Pitru Paksha, a period dedicated to paying respects to our ancestors. According to ancient traditions, the souls of our forefathers visit the earthly realm during this time, awaiting offerings and prayers from their descendants. By performing Tarpana, a ritual involving the offering of water and prayers, we express our gratitude and seek the blessings of our ancestors, ensuring peace and salvation for their souls.

It is believed that when we honor our forefathers through Tarpana, it helps remove any obstacles in our lives, bringing harmony, prosperity, and success. Mahalaya Amavasya is also considered one of the most auspicious days for Annadaan, the act of feeding the needy, which is seen as a great service to both humanity and our departed ancestors. Offering Annadaan in the names of our ancestors is said to multiply the blessings, providing both spiritual fulfillment and material well-being.

In essence, Mahalaya Amavasya is a time to connect with our roots, pay homage to those who came before us, and seek their guidance and blessings for a prosperous future.

Feeding Souls, Nourishing Lives

On the sacred occasion of Mahalya Amavasya, we extend our hearts and hands through the selfless act of Annadaan—the gift of food. This revered tradition, believed to appease the ancestors and uplift the soul, finds deeper meaning as we gather to serve in the holy cities of Haridwar, Gaya, Varanasi, Vrindavan, and Mayapur. These five locations, each blessed with spiritual significance, will witness our collective efforts in providing nourishing meals to thousands. Our annadaan initiative not only feeds the hungry but also serves as an offering of love, respect, and gratitude to the departed souls.  Join us in this divine mission to bring the light of compassion into the lives of those in need. Every meal served echoes a prayer, offering peace to our ancestors and blessings for future generations.
